Review of Burger Bhais Manchester

If you love fabulous, tasty burgers then check out this review of the Manchester burger place, Burger Bhais.

A halal burger joint with an Asian twist specialising in tea and masala spiced fries. We were kindly invited down here for a bloggers night and I was SO chuffed. With or without the invite we knew we would be heading down soon. I had seen the burgers of this place pop up a lot on Instagram, big juicy beef, chicken and veggie burgers loaded with gooey, oozing cheese and numerous toppings all encased in a sweet, buttery brioche bun. Yum!

We got here around 6:30 p.m. and there were already plenty of people tucking into big dirty burgers, I knew straight away that it was a popular place to come to. The décor of this place works perfectly, clean and modern with splashes of a street art giving this place a cool edge and a chilled vibe.

As soon as I walked in I clocked the sauce wall! Now, if you’re anything like me and order two of every sauce with your box of 20 chicken nuggets to double-dunk your way through (yes, I am a self-confessed double-dunker, much to the despise of Dean!), then you’ll be in sauce heaven. Currently the sauces are branded ones, but we were informed that they are moving toward in-house made ones… We sampled the homemade burger sauce and it was D-lish! So, I’m definitely looking forward to them bringing their own sauces on board.

Look at all that sauce!

Once we were seated, the menu was explained to us. With any of the beef patties (singe, double, cheese single, cheese double or big Bhai burger), you can choose as many toppings of your choice for free! Next the house specialities were explained, and these were what I had my eye on! It’s not often you can get a lamb burger, and with my lamb addition it was clear I was going to choose one of the two lamb burger offerings. So with much deliberation I opted for the Lahori burger. A chargrilled lamb patty, infused with Pakistani/Indian spices topped with an onion pakora and topped with spiced onions, raita and house-made chili sauce.

Lahori Indian spice infused lamb burger!

This was SO good! They certainly aren’t shy on the spices, this burger gives a real kick from both the spice infused lamb and the delicious, slightly pickled and spiced onions and kick of heat from the chili sauce but all this heat is complimented by the cool, fresh raita. I definitely made the right choice.

The other lamb burger is the Chapali burger, this is similar but differed with a shallow fried lamb patty and a different blend of spices, being north western Pakistani. It looked equally as delicious and I’m told it has quite a punch of spice to it, those which were tucking in were mopping their brows with this one! I’m still going to try it next time though. With these burgers you don’t get to personalise them and like that, it shows that they know what they are doing… any additional toppings would certainly ruin these Asian style burgers.

Those Asian spiced onions were amazing!

Dean went for the cheese double with burger sauce and grilled onions, just look at the picture below of it, need I say more?! It was huge and juicy, and smothered in oodles of cheese and the bun was so shiny it was glistening. If burgers could talk this one would be screaming ‘EAT ME!’.. We were told that all of their burgers are made in-house with fresh meat from the local butchers, this attention to detail is what I love, it really makes a difference to the quality and taste.

Cheeeese!

A long with the burgers we got our choice of fries; Skin on, Masala, parmesan cheese with garlic butter, cheese and jalapeno or sweet potato. My mind was made up before I looked at the menu, I was definitely going to be trying the Masala fries. Oh how yum they were, they were seasoned and spiced to perfection, so crisp on the outside and fluffy in the centre, they reminded a Southern style curly fries but with an Asian spice twist. Next to devour (cough cough) I mean ‘try’ Dean’s cheese and Jalapeno fries. These didn’t fuss me too much on the menu, I mean, I know I was going to like them of course, they’re fries and cheese, what’s not to like?! But these were smothered in melted nacho style cheese, the kind of cheese I just can’t get enough of on my nachos. When I order nachos at the cinema and I can see a smidge of nacho chip then there is certainly not enough cheese on. This is the kind of cheese you could just smother me in it and I’d squealing with delight, OK, ok too much information, but you get what I mean, warm, delicious and yumtastic. Not like the cheesy chips that you get from the chippy where the entire box of chips are stick together in a big glob of set congealed greasy cheese, no siree!

So what could one possibly want after belly busting feast of fine burgers and fabulous fries…A totally creamy and thick, toffee laden milkshake packed full of crushed buttery Lotus biscuits topped with more cream and a whole Lotus biscuit of course! Now I’m not usually one for milkshakes, I stick what I know is good for me… water or wine. However… This was quite literally a dessert in a glass. Think of a liquid cheesecake but creamier and biscuitier and a million times better and you’re nearly there. This seemed to be one of the most popular options and I can see why!

So after that we rolled out of Burger Bhais to hail our taxi home. Thank you so much to Burger Bhais for having us and allowing us to enjoy your delicious food and getting to meet like-minded Manchester food bloggers, it was awesome. We will be back to sample the rest of the menu, especially the kebabdogs!

Just to add, in addition to the sumptuous meaty burgers, they also have a great choice of vegetarian burgers too. It’s not often my head is turned towards the vegetarian option, but the aloo tikka burger did have me considering it for a moment. And for all you that of cluckers for chicken, do not despair they do Asian style chicken burgers and chicken strips too.
